Wendy's is NOT trying to get caught up in this Chick-fil-A business!
After it was reported that a Wendy's in North Carolina posted a sign in support of Chick-fil-A, Wendy's corporate offices decided to nip the inevitable outrage in the bud REAL quick.
More after the jump.
In a Tweet that was probably typed so fast it cramped some poor PR person's fingers, Wendy's wrote: "An independent franchisee posted the sign, which he’s taken down. We proudly serve ALL customers!"
The "independent franchisee" Jim Furmen reportedly owns 86 restaurants across North Carolina, according to Towleroad.
Amanda Domyan in Wendy's consumer relations department (we wonder if she's handling their Twitter...) emailed one of Towleroad's readers saying:
"This is one independent franchisee’s personal opinion. We are proud to serve customers of varied races, backgrounds, cultures and sexual orientation, with different beliefs and values. Bearing that in mind, this franchisee has decided to remove the messages from his restaurant signs."
We're thinking Wendy's put the kibosh on Furmen.
Fast food is not a game! Wendy's has no time for this foolishness. (And we have no other enjoyable chicken sandwich resource, so don't play with our emotions.)
