DC Comics has decided that the more Marys, the mary-er.

Though last year the major comic brand said Batwoman would be its only LGBT character for some time, over the weekend DC higher-ups announced a change of heart; another major DC character who was previously thought to be straight will come out of the closet!

But which one?

At the Kapow! Convention in London this weekend, DC Comics co-publisher Dan Didio made the huge news that has left fanboys hysterical for days.

During a press panel, Didio was asked why the DC Universe was updating established characters' race, gender and ethnicity but leaving sexual orientation alone.

Bleeding Cool takes us from there:

Surprisingly, DiDio stated that they had changed DC’s policy in this regard. And they ae about to reintroduce a previously existing DC character who was previously straight and now will be “one of our most prominent gay characters.”

As Bob Wayne explained that, just like the President of the United States, the co-publisher’s policy on this “has evolved.”

Speculation has everyone from the Joker to Lex Luther to Flash to Aquaman (above) coming out of the closet. Which major DC Comics character do you think (or hope) will end up batting for our team?

I'm gonna say Wonder Woman. She does hail from an island full of warrior women after all. Second choice would be Nightwing, because he ran around with a DILF in a batsuit for most of his life.

Kon el, maybe? Or one of the Green Lanterns? Hal Jordan would be interesting with all the DADT being down now.

Robin, Nightwing, or Aquaman would be my preference. Wonder Woman would be believable as well.
