So many questions: Why was anti-gay U.S. representative Michele Bachmann searching for out actor Chris Colfer? Why was she walking around the Time 100 event with a Justin Bieber book? Why was she invited to the TIME 100 event? Some answers after the jump.
So, apparently Time thinks that Michele Bachmann is among the 100 influential elite, which is why she was invited to the TIME 100 event last night which she attended with her husband, lugging around paraphernalia for celebs to sign. One would think that being invited to a reception of this caliber would instill some dignity and forethought in how a person presents herself. But think again! This woman hounded celebrities like she was competing for the last spot on Real Housewives of Minneapolis. Whatevs, it gets worse, or better, depending on your taste for irony.
NYMag reports that Bachmann and her husband posed with Glee star Darren Criss and e-mailed the pictures to their children. "We looked for Chris Colfer," she said, but they didn't find him. "We don’t watch TV, generally speaking. But the kids were thrilled. What kids don’t watch Glee?"
First, here are some of her thoughts on gay people:
“If you’re involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it’s bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement.”
“This is a very serious matter, because it is our children who are the prize for this community, they are specifically targeting our children.”
It's a lot ironic that she was seeking out the gayest and proudest of the characters/actors from the show to pose with them. Is this woman ignorant all the time, or just when she's awake? I bet Chris Colfer was dodging her all night, but what would have been more impressive is if he or Darren or anyone else from the cast confronted her about her anti-gay rhetoric and refused to take any photos with her.
