A happy landing (also known as sexual position) is something most everyone has thought about when flying. Recently, Risqué undoubtedly enjoyed such a happy descent into the wonderful city of New York where he was catered to by two cute, flirtatious flight attendants, Ryan and Steve, who kept Risqué’s wine glass continually full of Chapoutier 2006 Belleruche.

The Belleruche is a nice blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah showing a beautiful red garnet color. The prominent nose releases essences of tart Montmorency cherry, fresh raspberry, root beer and lingering hints of licorice.  The gratifying taste summons overwhelming black pepper (not hot), tight red fruit, mocha and ends with pleasing balanced tannins.

Risqué enjoyed his vin dans le ciel with a delicious fillet au poivre.

With a splendid continuous glass of vin, a satisfied appetite, two handsome wingmen at his beck and call and sporting a comfortable, upgraded position, Risqué thoroughly enjoyed his…Happy Landing.

Alcohol Content: 14.1%

When Risqué first tasted Brassfield’s 2006 Rosé of Pinot Noir, he could not help but be reminded of one of his favorite childhood vices where he fervently satisfied his LUSH-like cravings by sucking on watermelon Jolly Ranchers.

The color is reminiscent of summer-ripe watermelon with delightful perfumed aromas of wild strawberry, red delicious apple, Bartlett pear and, of course, candied watermelon. Captivating in the mouth are flavors of watermelon, bright raspberry, subtle cherry and a hint of earthiness all combined with a resonating, enjoyable dry acidity and minerality that finishes clean.

Kevin Robinson, Brassfield’s winemaker, definitely achieves his goal of producing a wine that “offers intense, ripe fruit characteristics…balanced with perfect acid structure, full-bodied mouth feel and silky tannins.” Risqué enjoyed this libation paired with olives, Marcona almonds, gourmet cheeses and artisanal breads…sublime!

Risqué no longer sucks on watermelon Jolly Ranchers, although he might admit to a few ranchers here and there. Regardless, Risqué thinks this 2006 Rosé of Pinot Noir is definitely one Jolly Rancher you will definitely want to add to your LUSH-like vices.

Jacob's On Top From Down Under - Jacob's Creek 2004 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon PDF  | Print |  EMail

ImageWine: Jacob’s Creek 2004 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley, S.E. Australia
Alcohol Content: 13.5%
Price: $10
Pairs Fabulously With: Any thick piece of red meat...succulent!

Just because you’re on top, darling, doesn’t make you one. But Risqué, always looking for a fabulous "top" that’s versatile (L’ingOL) was treated by a favorite lush to a leading man wine from down under. As Australia’s most popular vintner, Jacob’s Creek exports 80% of their wine production throughout the world in 60 countries, topping all other Aussie vineyards.

To the eye, the huge Barossa blend is a garnet-rimmed dark aubergine unfiltered, medium-bodied liquid. It's potent, with cocoa-dusted dark chocolate truffles, pints of warm summer black and blueberries, spiced with spearmint and vanilla all dominating the nose. Dark ripe summer and briar fruit assert themselves against the tongue with more bitter Swiss chocolate and aggressive espresso through the lengthy sustained finish.

Back to the "top," darling—where do you find so much diversity, chocolate, ripe berries, rich dark fruit, vanilla and an espresso to boot? Sounds like dessert, sex, and breakfast if you ask Risqué!

First, there's the epic Democratic convention last week. I caught a bit of it, and, blustery and staged as it was, I have to admit it made me a little misty at times.

Then there was McCain actually congratulating Obama on his nomination in a national TV ad, even though it seemed a bit more self-congratulatory than anything else:

And now the selection of Sarah Palin, Alaskan hockey mom-cum-governor with no national political experience, as McCain's running mate. Before you dismiss her selection entirely as political pandering to identity politics (which it is), consider how well she fits in to the contemporary, faux-feminist, Patty Heaton-esque, god-fearing, supermom mold, and how this resonates with conservative voters everywhere. And never mind that pesky teen daughter's pregnancy. "Family values" are so last era.

Risqué had tortured himself for two weeks on Phase 1 of the South Bitch Beach Diet forgoing any alcohol and specifically his life blood: wine! When he crossed that imaginary finish line of the second week, besides looking fabulous, he ran for the best sections in his cellar and pulled an anxiously awaited Pinot Noir. As Risqué carefully chilled, opened and poured this luscious strawberry-laden liquid into his glass, he peered through the windows hanging on his glass into a field...a field of strawberries...something to get “hung” about. Oh, let Risqué take you down!

This jewel of a filtered ruby-esque liquid has a truffled earthy nose of rich concentrated strawberry fruit contrasted with flinty minerality and candied citrus peel. It transitions into a palate of earthy mushrooms, tart Montmorency Cherries, with spiced cocoa, rich green cedar and smoky pancetta meaty notes, again echoing dried strawberries. It's all on a perfectly balanced tannic frame with a dry finish and shaley minerality. The liquid is far more complex than the lyrics of the song.

The Beatles were wrong! Some things are real! La Fenêtre is absolutely the real thing, and Risqué thinks, in Beatle jargon: “That is I (Risqué) think I (Risqué) disagree(s)”… these strawberry fields are something to be “hung” about. Extraordinary! The complexity and earthiness of this delicious Bacchius beverage lends itself to anything loaded with truffle; a sumptuous bone-in (pun intended) rib-eye layered with freshly sliced truffles or black truffle Risotto studded of Chanterelle mushrooms.  Oh, hell, just go to David Myer’s SONA and ask for the “truffle” add on (in season of course!)

After all the notes are sung, Risqué is all about something to be “hung” about!
