Interesting item in the NY Post yesterday. Mary-Kate Olsen, whose apartment Heath Ledger died in, is demanding immunity from prosecution before she talks to federal investigators about the drugs involved in Ledger's death. Not that they have to bargain with her. More:
Frustrated federal officials could obtain a grand-jury subpoena to
compel the funky "Full House" actress to tell them whatever she knows
about the "Dark Knight" star's behavior, his possible drug use and the
events of that fateful morning, according to sources.
Olsen's lawyer, Michael C. Miller, today denied that she was hiding any information.
[NY Post, via WOWReport]
Don't you love it when super-wealthy Hollywood starlets decide whether or not they want to comply with the law? Gotta wonder what Mr. Miller, Esq., charges for a retainer.
According to the Post, the Feds have interviewed everyone else involved in the tragedy, from the masseuse who discovered his body (and made the fateful first call to Mary-Kate, before 911), to his wife Michelle Williams.

My friend in Margaret Cho's camp sent over the link to this trailer for Margaret's new VH1 reality show, The Cho Show. I'm digging all the celeb guest stars—especially Gary Busey! I also love that LA alternative art scene icon Selene Luna is Margaret's "assistant," and that Cho's parents are heavily featured.
You gotta love SF Mayor Gavin Newsom proclaiming Margaret Cho Day!

Wine: Ramey 2005 Chardonnay, Carneros District, Napa, CA
Alcohol Content: 14.5%
Price: $35
Almost any Maria would agree upon first sip of this Ray “drop of golden sun” that this is a delicious and versatile wine. Its bright acidity keeps it perfect for pairing with food—perhaps even “crisp apple strudels and Schnitzel with noodles." Risqué recommends paying quick attention to any “Grueways and (or) Cads that will offer you” Ramey Chardonnay with fruit and cheese especially a “lonely goat” cheese as he (“Grueway and (or) Cad) obviously understands the complex and delightful relationship between food and wine. Along with pairing beautifully with food, it is certainly approachable as a wonderful repast to simply sip “every day of your life for as long as you live”.
The bright, straw-colored liquid boasts bold aromas of Meyer lemon and bright lime, wafting with sweet orange blossom, ripe Bosc pear and spice. The rich round mouth is abundant with more exuberant acidic citrus, layered with flavors of French apple tarte tatin with lemon zest lingering through the “long, long way to run” finish, complimented by a mushroomy earthiness.
So, for “Me, a name I call myself”, Risqué thinks: “Nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could.” So, somewhere in Ramey’s Vineyards, there really is something good. May the great and awesome Bacchus “Bless my homeland forever”!

Not to be outdone by California (and surely hoping to get a piece of the marriage buck), the Massachusetts House voted yesterday to overturn an arcane law forbidding out-of-state couples to get married there.
The repeal of the law was approved 118-35 after 45 minutes of debate. The Massachusetts Senate has already approved the repeal (unanimously), and MA governor Deval Patrick has indicated he will sign it.
The law stretches back to 1913, is rooted in anti-miscegenation politics, and was not enforced until former governor Mitt Romney revisited it after same-sex marriage rights were won in that state in 2004.
