ImageA NEW DAY HAS COME… AND GONE

This December 15, Céline Dion packs up her mountains of cash and ends her mega-successful Caesars Palace show, A New Day. To celebrate the long, successful run, La Dion spoke to Instinct, which we’re confident was the highlight of her long and illustrious career as one of the biggest-selling female artists of all time. (For the record, she said, “It was a pleasure.”) Oh, and remember—the last block of tickets is on sale now, so while it all might be coming back to you now…Céline won’t be!

SHE’LL BE YOUR ANGEL: “All of us have a part in making the world a better place for the next generations. As a mother, I take this responsibility very seriously. We need to continue to fight hunger, poverty and disease, as well as doing our part to save the environment.”

LOOKY-LOOS: More than 2.5 million fans have seen A New Day since it opened in March 2003, including stars like Oprah Winfrey, Justin Timberlake and Prince—and a Helen Mirren look-alike the night my friend Bethany and I went.

THE POWER OF LOVE…ERR, MUSIC: “I think a great song can awaken emotions in people, and in some cases, it can even have somewhat of a healing effect. The greatest music helps people get in touch with their feelings, and because of this, is very powerful.”

THE SEXY, HALF-NAKED MALE DANCERS WRITHING AROUND ON CÉLINE: Enter around eight songs in, during a little tune called “Seduces Me.” (“I wish it had been my idea! It’s such a sensual song, both lyrically and musically, and [director] Franco found a passionate way to present it in a sultry and artistic way.”)

BEST IDEA: As Bethany and I sat in the theater, we decided Céline’s fan club should be called “The Iceberg Club.” (Get it?) Funny how the more casino cocktails we had, the more appealing the idea became.

NOT LIKE SPANKING, BUT: “I’ve always said that you need discipline to be a professional singer. You need to train your voice and keep it in shape always. Another bit of advice would be to love what you do. If you love what you’re singing, it will shine through!”

NUMBER OF ICEBERGS CÉLINE STRADDLES IN THE SHOW: Zero. This was strangely disappointing.

LA VIE CÉLINE: “I meet a lot of fans who are going through extremely tough times: some who are very sick, some who are in their final days. When I hear how my music helps them or gives them joy, this inspires me. If I can help people just by my singing, this motivates me to do it as long as I possibly can. I realize that I have this gift, and I don’t take it for granted.”

AFTER DECEMBER 15: My heart will go on. Somehow.

I love her, and will miss her. But look forward to many more album releases, Like Miss Whitney (imagine that duo) I welcome her with open arms back into the music world. Fans alike will embrace the both of them purely because they both are icons and have done so much for the music industry. They are truly in a different class.
XOXO, Celine
P.s. seen the show at least 10 times, I have friends in the show that dance.

I live in Toronto, Canada and saw her "A New Day..." show at the end of August. If you are a true fan, you owe it to yourself to see the show before it ends in December. I had waited for five years to go, and am glad I did. My only regret is that I did not go to see it more than that one time. As far as Celine goes, she is undoubtedly an gift and talented vocalist with a unique and amazing voice. Regardless if you like her music or not, you cannot deny that she can sing. She's my favourite and I will always support her. I cannot wait for the "Taking Chances" release date of November 13, 2007. I have every album she's done, French and English. She's simply the greatest and best.
