From starring opposite Halle Berry in the Oprah Winfrey-produced Their Eyes Were Watching God to the photogenic ensemble cast of Noah’s Arc to his latest role as a bisexual warlock on Dante’s Cove, hot hunk Jensen Atwood continues to sizzle on the small screen
INSTINCT: Jensen, ever since I saw the early webisodes of Noah’s Arc, I’ve been telling my friends that you are the sexiest man in show business. Now I get to tell the readers of this magazine.
JENSEN ATWOOD: [Laughs] Right on! Awesome.
Describe your latest series, Dante’s Cove, to the uninitiated.
Dante’s Cove can be described as Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets Dark Shadows with a splash of The O.C. My own interpretation is it’s a gay version of Charmed.
You play Griffin, a bisexual warlock.
Yes, Griffin is the big boss man who has come to Dante’s Cove to set things right, to correct all the wrongs that have been done.
And this being Dante’s Cove, it involves having sex with everyone on the island.
[Laughs] I have just a few love scenes and a couple of love interests.
If you had Griffin’s powers in real life, would you use them for good or evil?
I’d use them for my own good.
What would you do with them?
I would use his powers to motivate myself. Other than that, he shoots flames. I’m not sure where that would come in handy.
Dante’s Cove is known for its actors disrobing. Will we be seeing more of Jensen Atwood than we have in the past?
After Noah’s Arc, I think we’ve seen all of Jensen Atwood there is to see. I don’t know why anyone would want to see anything else.
I do. You’ve gone from Noah’s Arc to Dante’s Cove. Do you only work on TV shows that have aesthetically pleasing casts?
[Laughs] Yes, it’s in my contract. Noah’s Arc was such an entertaining, groundbreaking series. We were sad when it was canceled by Logo.
What’s the status of the proposed film version?
I wish I had that information. Logo hasn’t contacted me. It was sad that it didn’t go on for a third season. I can’t make any sense of it, nor can anyone else. Hopefully, I will be part of the feature film.
Who’s the better kisser, Halle Berry or Darryl Stephens, your love interest on Noah’s Arc?
[Laughs] I’m gonna go with…Jensen.
How did you find working with Halle?
She was awesome, and it was a dream come true.
Did you meet the big O?
I did get to meet Oprah at the premiere. It was like an amusement park ride where you wait in line. You just wish the ride was longer. There were maybe 30 people waiting in line just to smile at her. She saw me, but I’m not sure she saw me.
Dante’s Cove storyline aside, what’s the scariest experience you’ve ever had in your career?
Wow. I’m not going to say the name of this person, but early in my career there was a guy who was booking runway shows for models. Initially, we were supposed to meet at his house and go somewhere else to talk. We ended up staying at his house. The meeting I was supposed to have became the auditioning couch. Basically, he wanted me to have sex with him to get employment. That was the most horrifying thing that’s ever happened to me.
Who’s the biggest witch that you’ve met in Hollywood?
There was a moment in a club when I saw a certain pop star being extremely disrespectful to the people around her. I’m not going to name [names], but she’s in the media right now and she has a couple of kids and is embroiled in a custody battle at the moment. She actually spit on another girl in the club and then had her bodyguard punk the girl and got them thrown out of the club. It was a moment of disbelief for me.
How do you unwind when you’re not hard at work?
I enjoy the gym, believe it or not.
I’ve seen you shirtless. I believe it.
[Laughs]
In a perfect world, who would you switch teams for?
I try to stay away from this. Sexuality for some reason always seems to be the first question asked. I’m not in this thing to take sides. So I’ll just say that my sexuality is my own.

I think that Jensen ia a wonderful actor. Very beleivable in all roles. I think that its great when an actor can be versatile. I am sure that his career will be long lived. I got a chance to meet him in Atlanta. He is a very cool guy.

Atwood to date is one of my favorite up and coming actor.He taking on versatile roles says alot about his actual life. It means he is accepting and down to earth along with the best body in the business and not to mention beautiful smile. I enjoy Jensen as a actor and he answers the question with grace. I have watch both shows and enjoy his transition from one character to the other. I respect an actor who can transition into each character with such grace.
