ImageREIGN OF TARA

Tara Reid Is Here To Discuss Her New Horror Movie. You Should Be Scared.

Ater searching both high and low, we managed to track down night owl Tara Reid—in Amsterdam!—to get the skinny on her new horror flick, Incubus (on shelves this month at a Blockbuster near you). Wardrobe slips and botched boob jobs behind her, the perennial party girl proved to be anything but dull, and she had plenty to say about reality TV, Robert Altman, making horror movies and…cleaning up Romania?!?

INSTINCT: Hey, Tara! So you’re in Europe right now?
TARA REID: I’m in Amsterdam, in an alley, and it’s freezing and raining. So you have to know you’re very important.

Much appreciated. How’s it feel to be this month’s “Chick We’d Switch For”?
I love it! Are you kidding me? All my best friends in the world are gay! They’re my favorite people in the nation. They dress me nice.

Everyone in the office is so jealous that I’m doing this interview. We’ve gotta make it a good one.
It’s definitely going to be super cheesy because I’m from New Jersey. I’m all about big hair, red lipstick and Camaros, so we’re all good there.

But you live in Los Angeles?
I’ve been in L.A. too long.

So you still consider yourself to be a Jersey girl?
Absolutely. You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can never take the Jersey out of the girl. That’s the truth.

I just watched your new horror film, Incubus. There was some pretty freaky stuff in it.
Yeah, we shot that in Romania. We actually shot it in an abandoned hospital. An insane asylum. It was one of the scariest things ever.

You didn’t have to do much acting, then, to appear frightened?
There was actually a scene in the movie in real life. We were acting like we were scared, and the
killer was supposed to be looking for us. We’re walking down this corridor, and a cat jumps out—in real life, which wasn’t supposed to happen. We didn’t know there were cats living in that abandoned building, in the ceiling. And a cat jumps out of the building, right down—BOOM—right on us. We screamed so hard. I’ve never seen anything like it. Like this—[Shrieks]. It was the craziest thing.

What did you think of Romania?
It’s a beaten-up country. You feel like, if you could take helicopters and, like, throw shampoo over
the whole country, you know? And a little bit of rain…it would look beautiful. It would clean the whole place up.

What’s been your best filmmaking experience?
My best experience—unfortunately he just passed away—would be with Robert Altman. When I did the movie with Richard Gere.

Dr. T.?
Yeah, Dr. T. And The Women. [Altman] was the most incredible, talented man I’ve ever worked with in my entire life. The first day we met with him, he said, “Do you see this script?” And he takes [the script] and he throws it in the garbage. He goes, “That’s the outline. Now let’s make the movie.” And it was awesome. It was an incredible experience.

Was it at all intimidating to work that way?
No, I loved it. That’s the kind of stuff I love. Where it’s raw and it’s real.

Speaking of raw and real, are we ever going to see a DVD release of Taradise?
No. I think Taradise is over.

Really?
Yup. Reality TV—I think the way they cut it, it’s not really reality. It should be called “fake reality” because it’s not the truth. I wanted to show people Lifestyles Of The Rich And Famous and a good time. Instead they tried to make me a joke.

Do you own the rights to Taradise?
No, but I did make up that title.

Are we ever going to see a Tara Reid album?
Definitely not. I can promise that. I like singing in the shower, but that’s about it.

So, you have this reputation as a partyer…
I’ve always been who I am. I’m a girl that likes to have fun. I work hard, and I play hard. And I think there’s nothing wrong with that.

Of course not.
Who doesn’t like to have fun and be proud of what they do?

Are you dating anyone right now?
I’m definitely not dating anyone.

Definitely not?
Not even close.

Are you looking for a relationship?
If you look, you can’t find. If it finds you, it finds you. I’m just living my life, having a good time.

What’s a typical day in the life of Tara Reid?
[Laughs] It’s different every day.

What do you wish a typical day could be like?
I love my days, every day. Good or bad, every day you learn a lesson. That’s what life’s about. That’s what makes us who we are.

Can you let us in on a big secret? Something nobody knows about Tara?
Trust me, anything about me, you already know. There are no exclusives.

Pick up Incubus on February 6 and let Tara send a chill down your spine!
