Video: Sen. Rubio Comes Out Against Employment Protections For LGBT Community
Senator Marco Rubio is making all kinds of fun waves today. Following his assertion that he'd be "done" with an immigration bill that included LGBT protections for same-sex binational couples, Rubio is now voicing his opposition to ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would prevent members of the LGBT community from being fired based on their sexual orientation.
Keep in mind, Rubio is rumored to be one of the leading contenders for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016.
When questioned by ThinkProgress's Scott Keyes he says:
KEYES: The Senate this summer is going to be taking up the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which makes it illegal to fire someone for being gay. Do you know if you’ll be supporting that?
RUBIO: I haven’t read the legislation. By and large I think all Americans should be protected but I’m not for any special protections based on orientation.
KEYES: What about on race or gender?
RUBIO: Well that’s established law.
KEYES: But not for sexual orientation?
Rubio clearly has no problem stating his opposition to the LGBT community? Think the Republicans will get behind him in 2016, Instincters?
