Sen. Chuck Schumer Wants Rainbow Flag At The Olympics

Looks like Sen. Chuck Schumer agrees with a particular strategy lofted by many in the community when it comes to handling the Sochi Winter Games. Sen. Schumer, who appeared Monday on an episode of Morning Joe, thinks supportive countries should walk into the Opening Ceremonies carrying a giant Pride flag.

"When we march initially, all the countries should wave the multicolored flag for gay rights. That would be pretty embarrassing for Putin, let our athletes participate and still take a stand."

Schumer went on to explain why he doesn't support a boycott of the Sochi Games.

"All these athletes train for so long," he said, adding that, "standing up to Putin right now is important because he’s a bully. He resents being an old KGB guy, being brought up when the Soviet Union and the US went head to head...He resents that Russia is no longer the major power in the world that it used to be. Its population, of course, with all the states – Ukraine, all the Baltic states, the east Asian states gone -- they’re no longer a big power."

Great idea Senator Schumer! It would be rather difficult for Putin to arrest every participating nation's Olympic teams for carrying the Rainbow/Pride flag! I hope this becomes a reality, it would be glorious to see each nation involved with the Olympics displaying the Rainbow flag beside it's national flag. A delightful, yet very firm, slap to Putin's smug and snarky face! Please do this, please!

What a great idea of Senator Schumer. Although unlikely to get everyone on board. Unfortunately we're just not quite there yet where people would feel comfortable carrying our flag. Why, what if someone thought he was gay!
