Finland Reveals New Graphic Gay Stamps [NSFW]
Taking America's first official stamp to feature an LGBT activist (the just-revealed Harvey Milk stamp) and raising it along with our blood pressure, Finland has just announced a graphic new stamp series in honor of Tom of Finland.
Itella Posti Oy, Finland's postal service, gushes about the stamps from "one of the most well-known Finnish artists around the world":
His emphatically masculine homoerotic drawings have attained iconic status in their genre and had an influence on, for instance, pop culture and fashion. In his works, Tom of Finland utilized the self-irony and humor typical of subcultures. … The drawings on the stamp sheet represent strong and confident male figures typical of their designer.
The three-stamp series featuring "confident and proud homoeroticism" will be released on September 8. Unfortunately, they're self adhesive, so, you know, no licking.
