Former Ole Miss Basketball Player Calls Michael Sam NFL Draft Coverage "Nasty Ass Shit"
Marshall Henderson, who used to play guard for the Ole Miss' basketball team, is in hot water today after tweeting homophobia over Michael Sam's recent ESPN coverage. After Sportscenter showed Michael Sam kissing his partner to celebrate being drafted by the NFL's St. Louis Rams, Henderson sent out this message to his followers:
"Boycotting sportscenter til this Michael Sam nasty ass shit is off... My brothers are 7 and 11 and saw that!!! #sickening"
Following the first wave of outrage from the Internet, Henderson tried to turn the tables. “Who is the worse person, me for what I said or any of the HUNDREDS who just cursed me??” he wrote in his first follow-up tweet.
Then his alma mater got involved.
Ole Miss athletic director Ross Bjork reacted to Henderson's gross post with a tweet of his own claiming that the school is “extremely disappointed & we do not condone the statements made by our former bball player. We believe in respect & dignity for all.”
Suddenly, Henderson's tune seemed to change and one of the most creative explanations for homophobia that we've seen from an athlete yet emerged from his fingertips. “One of my best friends, WHO IS GAY, is about to graduate in psychology, asked me to say these things so he can have responses.”
Henderson did not reveal the name of his gay best friend who demanded to conduct a social experiment using the basketball player's reputation.
What do you think, Instincters? Do you believe Henderson's defense?
