Homophobic B&B Owners Who Discriminated Against Gays Have To Sell Their Business

Discrimination doesn't pay, y'all!

Hazelmary and Peter Bull refused to honor a legally recognized gay couple's shared room booking in 2008 at their bread and breakfast, offering them separate rooms instead. The couple sued and won in the courts in 2011. Since then, the couple's B&B has been removed from databases for its discriminatory practices, resulting in a tangible loss of business for the couple.

“Last winter was terrible," Hazelmary told the Daily Mail. "We were actually shivering and were hungry. We are coming towards next winter and dreading it.”

“In 2013, two people who worked all their lives at this have ended up cold and hungry," she added. "It’s not right. This is like a death in the family. I never thought it would end like this. We are not facing the future with any real enthusiasm.”

The couple has listed their B&B for £750,000.

We give it 3, 2, 1... until the homophobic Christian minority will try to twist this as "discrimination" against bigots.

I have no real sympathy for this couple. I'm sure they'll land on their feet. If you own a business that will discriminate against any group, you shouldn't be surprised by the blow-back.  Unless you live in a community with like minded bigots that will gladly support your business, attitudes like that are bad for business.

"Two people who have worked all their lives at this have ended up cold and hungry."  No talk whatsoever about how they made two people who love each other feel.  No idea of the degradation they imposed on two people who were just living their lives peacefully.  "We are not facing the future with any real enthusiasm."  I am very sorry for you, Mr. and Mrs. Bull, but you stood on the wrong side of history in 2008.  The future for glbt persons is filled with possibilities and joy, but no thanks to people like you.  I am not sure what god you worship, but it is certainly not the God of Love the I proclaim from the pulpit every Sunday.
