Video: NRA Argues Starbucks' Ban On Guns Is Similar To Ban On Gays

Starbucks announced last week that the company was “respectfully requesting that customers no longer bring firearms into our stores or outdoor seating areas—even in states where “open carry” is permitted—unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel.”

Crazy town, right? An establishment requesting that randoms not bring guns inside.

Well, apparently the National Rifle Association doesn't appreciate this request and one NRA rep is arguing that the move by Starbucks is exactly the same as anti-gay discrimination.

Hmm...

Pink News reports:

Colion Noir, a 29-year-old attorney and news commentator for the NRA, has responded to Starbucks’ recent open letter requesting that customers no longer bring guns into their stores, even in states where it is legal to openly carry a firearm.

Mr Noir filmed his response “in the wake of Starbucks coming out the proverbial anti-gun closet.”

He continues to say: “Yes, I said anti-gun — because when you request that I don’t bring my gun with me into your store, that’s an anti-gun stance. Think about it. When you say, ‘We’re not pro-or-anti-gay but please all gay people – we respectfully ask that you not bring your gayness into the store. I mean, we’ll still serve you, but if you can leave the gayness at the door, we would much appreciate it.’

“Now if that’s what they said I highly doubt Tom Ford would go start designing a black Tuscan coffee signature cologne in support of this stance.”

____________

Yeah...that sounds like a stretch to us, primarily because we can't leave our gayness in the glove compartment.

What do you think of the NRA's argument, Instincters?

It is amazing how everyone on this page has managed to instantly stereotype all NRA members as "gun-nuts" and "idiotic" based on the assertions of one person who claims to be a NRA member. How can a group of people who claim abhor unfair labels instantly turn around and plaster one on NRA members based on the obviously half baked rant of one individual?

This article is ridiculous! The NRA has nothing to do with this argument.. How can you even support your claim that the National Rifle Association is remotely condoning this statement?? This is not good reporting, taking the words of one person, calling them the opinion of an entire national organization and basing an article on it. I mean LOL, this is a complete fail instinct.

A sign for "No Guns" is no different than "Shirt and shoes required".
Wanna stay strapped?  Get coffee somewhere else. Problem solved.

Maybe grow up a little while you're at it, and accept the fact the world doesn't revolve around YOU, your frakking GUN, and what YOU want.

What an idiotic statement, everyone knows that there is a difference between descrimination based on sexual orientation and asking patrons to abide by certain conduct they would appreciate in their establishments.  Besides when gays empty their chamber, you are not likely to die as a result.

Nice that instinctmagazine.com is stirring the pot of hatred with a Headline that is far from the truth. Yes, the idiot in the video makes a stupid and invalid statement but it is far less offensive than the false headline this article promotes.
Stir stir stir...
It doesn't matter which side of the argument your on with Gun Control, it is articles like these that distract from the real issues and brings no conclusions.
This isn't reporting, it is self promotion to get readership...Shame.

Wow. Sexual orientation couldn't be anymore non-related to firearms than a circle is to a square. Some people.

Does that crazy train known as the NRA ever stop???

As a firearm-owning gay man, I must agree 100% with the analogy.  There are no such things as 'degrees' of Constitutional Rights - they exist or they dont.

So, then I expect you would agree 100% with all the following analogies, too:

- Passengers have a right to scream, "I have a bomb", while on a plane.

- A worker at McDonalds has a right to wear a sign saying "Fuck McDonalds"

- Kindergarten teachers have a right to use curse words in the classroom

- Defendants have a right to take their guns into courtrooms

- Prisoners have a right to take their guns into prisons

I could go on, but hopefully you see the point.

And suppose I answered, "yes" to all of the above?

Sorry, but I believe in Constitutional Rights.

(Being facetious, of course...but there are significant legal distinctions involved with most of your 'events that make them complete non-sequiturs)

If you did say "yes" to all of the above, then I would have been impressed that you maintained the logic of your point.

Yet your follow up comment broke the logic:

...significant legal distinctions involved with most of your 'events that make them complete non-sequiturs

directly contradicts your initial statement:

There are no such things as 'degrees' of Constitutional Rights - they exist or they dont.

I wouldn't expect anything less than an idiotic statement from the NRA.  They've become particularly good at it lately.

We don't purchase our "gayness" and then choose to take it into a store.  Guns are not a sexual orientation.  They are not a race.  They are not a gender.  Only a moron would think they are in any way comparable - but that seems to be today's NRA.

I wouldn't take gun-nuts to be aficionados of good coffee. They seem to be more like Sanka.

Go home, crazy gun-nuts, go home.
