Lambda Legal Will Fight Chris Christie's Stay Of New Jersey Marriage Equality

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's chest-thumping was riveting political theater for a moment this morning, but Lambda Legal quickly rushed in to issue a reality check.

According to a press release published immediately after Christie announced that he's appealing the ruling that legalizes equal rights for gay couples starting October 21, Lambda Legal will not roll over so easily.

Today after New Jersey Attorney General Hoffman announced his plans to file papers seeking to stay last Friday's ruling by a New Jersey Superior Court allowing same-sex couples to marry, Lambda Legal issued the following statement from Deputy Legal Director Hayley Gorenberg: "We'll fight the State's efforts to stay this decision. We're going to do everything we can to make sure same-sex couples can begin making plans to marry starting on the date set by the court - Oct 21st. We will file our opposition on Friday and we'll be making the case that we are likely to win and any delay in allowing same-sex couples to marry is too great a hardship to allow a stay."

Thanks, Lambda!

Does marriage equality stand a chance against Christie?

A lot of gay couples are currently demanding some equal rights about their relationship and especially marriage, see it here for some related issues about marriage equality.

Yes it does!  Christie May be BIG, but he is not immovable.
