Waiter Receives Anti-Gay Message On Receipt Instead Of Tip

What is going on with bigots using restaurant receipts as preferred methods of communication?

Another restaurant receipt featuring a message of attack on a minority group has hit the Internet. This time around, it's a gay waiter who was on the receiving end of some nasty words from a bigoted customer.

The Carrabba's server in Kansas City, Kansas found the message on the back of a receipt from one of the table's he served earlier this week. It read:  "Thank you for your service, it was excellent. That being said, we cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to God. May God have mercy on you."

Friends and family have taken to social media to arrange a massive showing of support that will take place this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the restaurant, though the waiter insists he doesn't need monetary donations. "The offers to help pay me back are much appreciated, but not at all needed. I'd prefer to let my work ethic and my service do the talking, nothing else."

KMBC spoke with customers for their reactions to the news:

"I think it's so unfortunate that we would impress upon other people our beliefs," said Susan Fehlig.

"It's honestly despicable. It's not different than saying I'm not tipping you because you're black, or a Jew, or anything like that," said Will Rogers. "In this day and age, being gay, it's not really any cause for a fuss."

I had to re-read the quote from the man named Will Rogers again and again: I thought at first there was some historical connotation since Will Rogers (1879-1935) was a famous pithy humorist and social commentator. But I think he would have said the same thing if he were alive in 2013.

I'd like the manager and other staff keep a look out for this person, and if they attempt to get service, politely inform them that we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, and kick them out.

It's just another display of how misinformed the public is under the guise of religion. God loves ALL people.

The waiter should sue for harassment

I feel bad for the waiter having to experience people like that.

I love how Christians cherry pick their religion to justify their own prejudices and hatred for others. Didn't Jesus say: Judge not, lest ye be judged?

If you cant afford to tip, one shouldn't eat out lol.

Even trolls have to eat when not hiding under the Internet bridge!
