U.S. Conference Of Catholic Bishops Says ENDA "Legally Affirms" Adultery
We're used to the "slippery slope" argument from the likes of bigots like Cardinal Timothy Dolan and his U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, but the creativity and hoops they jump through to compare LGBT-inclusive ENDA to legal adultery is quite impressive indeed.
In a statement released yesterday following the Senate's vote on cloture, the USCCB writes that ENDA "does not justly advance the dignity of all workers and authentic non-discrimination." They go on to write that the proposed law “elevates ‘sexual orientation’ discrimination … to the same and, until now unique, level as race discrimination, and above religion, sex, and national origin discrimination.”
And then the whopper of WTF:
According to the nation's top homophobic Catholic leaders, ENDA includes a "vague definition of ‘sexual orientation,'" and "would encompass sexual conduct outside of marriage, thus legally affirming and specially protecting that conduct.”
Whew. They must be tired from all that logical hoop jumping work.
