Bernardo Coppola wants to change your life (and he won't take no for an answer)

In an effort to do our part to save the environment in this, our first green issue, we asked hunky cover model Bernardo Coppola to use less…clothing, that is. But hey, can you really blame us?
The 28-year-old eco-friendly Argentinean isn’t just trying to do his part to save the earth, though, he’s also trying to save and better people’s lives as a fitness trainer and nutritional coach in Los Angeles. And while Bernardo clearly practices what he preaches (he swears to not having broken his strict health diet in seven years!), he insists that the best part of his job isn’t seeing someone tone their arms or achieve killer abs but completely improving someone’s health starting from the inside.
“I love making changes in people’s lives, that’s why I got multiple degrees in nutrition and as a trainer, just to make changes in people’s lives as a whole,” Bernardo says. “I’ve had so many clients, people with AIDS, people with cancer, obesity, and you make a difference. I’ve helped switch people’s lives. It really touches you.”

One of the biggest ways Bernardo is helping to get L.A. in shape is through his boot camp program at Gold’s Gym. Using the military-style routine of combining cardio and muscular exercises at a fast pace, Bernardo packs upwards of 50 people into his morning classes, five days a week for six-week runs.
And while most boot camp instructors take the drill sergeant route, Bernardo takes more of a coach’s approach, stern but with lots of heart, when working with his clients. “I’m a nice person, but I’m very strict. I’ve been doing this so long, I’m not the kind of person that is going to accept excuses,” he says. “You have to work hard to get your goal, and I’ll help show you how, but you have to put in the work, too.”
