In 2008, Instinct crisscrossed the country to find the man we would declare Instinct & Undergear Model Star 2008. The winner’s just rewards included a cover shoot for the very issue you hold in your hands now and a modeling contract and photo shoot with Undergear for their spring 2009 catalog.
Carlos and his friend entered our contest in San Francisco on what he says was really a lark. “I never expected anything to come of it. I kind of wrote it off and I didn’t think too much about it. I just had fun. We really didn’t know what we were getting into, but here I am,” he says with his hands spread wide. “Kind of funny and really cool.”
His win in San Francisco guaranteed him a trip to New York City to compete with finalists from other regional contests across the country. “When I met the other guys I was like, ‘Wow, these guys are intense!’ They were ready to win—like they’d been working out all year for this and I didn’t feel like I could even compete. But I just acted like myself. I decided I was going to have fun. The whole experience was really just crazy! I’ve appreciated everything. I don’t know what to expect next, but we’ll see what life has in store for me.”

Nice stuff, Carlos. Would have definitely liked to have seen Alexander from the Model Star contest grace this cover. Carlos was great while in NYC, but Alexander blew the crowd away. I'll keep reading, though! Thanks for the pics!

It seems that most of the people who posted some of the later comments have no idea what they're talking about. No where in the magazine does it implicate him with being gay, most likely because he's not, and he's not in uniform, making this sort of thing just fine. I talked to him just yesterday, after he had talked to his superiors, and nothing happened. He didn't get paid for the shoot, so it also doesn't count as a second job.

Some of the people posting comments here are morons. You bitch about him "giving out information," and how stupid he is, but if you actually read the article, it doesn't mention anything about where he goes to school, or even where he lives! The details are extremely vague, and the people on here are giving out way more information than he ever did.
