New Yorkers turned out last night for a candlelight vigil to mourn the passing of 32-year-old shooting victim, Mark Carson.

Carson was murdered early Saturday morning in an anti-gay hate crime.

With same-sex marriage being legalized at such a rapid rate across the country, it stands to reason we'll be seeing an increase in same-sex weddings.

Saturday Night Live touched on this last night in a hilarious sketch that touched upon heterosexual anxiety over our inevitably flawless and meticulously planned same-sex weddings with a spoof commercial for "Xanax for Gay Summer Weddings."

French President Francois Hollande officially signed marriage equality into law today in France. The bill also legalized adoption by same-sex couples.

France is the 14th country to legalize same-sex marriage.

It's just been announced that GLAAD President Herndon Graddick has resigned, after a bit more than a year in the position, effective immediately.

“I'm proud to leave GLAAD with a stronger, more efficient organization and an incredibly talented and experienced Board and staff," Graddick said in a statement to the press. "I'm happy the role I was able to play in advancing the need for our community to fully support the rights of our transgender brothers and sisters. Our movement is benefited by the leadership not only of heroes like Evan Wolfson, Chad Griffin, Mara Keisling, and Kate Kendell, but of the necessary and vital blogger and grassroots communities. I look forward to returning to a private life and supporting the fight from behind the scenes."

The ACLU wants to be sure viewers have the opportunity next season! The group’s advocacy arm, ACLU Action, has launched a campaign—complete with a website—to urge Modern Family producers to make it legal for the hit show’s gay couple, Mitch and Cam.

Of course the show does take place in California, where same-sex marriage is still illegal, but I guess we suspended reality enough to believe Mariah actually sang on Idol last night, so why not here, right?
