Dear Instinct,
Both my older brother and I are gay (our younger brother is straight). My dad, Orlando, has told me that he doesn’t care about my sexuality. All he cares about is that my I’m happy. He is always there for us. He doesn’t believe homosexuality is a sin—he believes that everyone should marry whover they want to. He’s compassionate, loyal, hard-working, accepting, open-minded and sensitive.

A female friend of my dad’s once made a crack about gays when they were in the car together. Not sure what she said exactly, but my dad slammed on the brakes and told her to “get the fuck out of my truck—now!”

I’m proud of him because he has been through a lot (we all have), but at the end of the day, he has nothing but unconditional love and support for all my family, and especially for my brother and me.

this is a great story. but sadly, as reflected by the comments, many people did not read it. yet there are tons of comments for the blonde abercrombie and fitch, robot-building (for real) cover boy. now i wonder why an inspiring article here gets nary a recognition as compared to the blondie. as usual, this is a typical reflection of the utter vanity of the gay community.

Congrats to the daddy!
I have been very fornunate as well. However, its with my whole family. Not one person has a problem with me being gay.
I wish more parents out there were like that.

Congrats to the Dad is right! Its good to here of stories where parents have there heads on right. Being gay and a parent myself I find it difficult to believe that all parents don't feel the same. I think rather they just don't know how to express love when they disapprove. Sounds like someones got it figured out.

That is a great inspiring story but shayer get off your high horse. Lumping all gay people the same is mighty offensive. Something that a straight bigot would do. Just because people haven't left a message doesn't mean they aren't moved by the story. Perhaps many don't feel the need to leave comments. What do you want, a memorial book? Chill out.
