A vote on banning marriage equality in Iowa was forced into the Iowa Senate chamber today by state Sen. Kent Sorensen. Fortunately, Sen. Sorensen's intention of revoking the Constitutional rights of Iowans was narrowly defeated, with 26 Democrats voting "no" and 24 Republicans voting "yes."

Sen. Sorensen pledges to continue unleashing other tactics from his bigoted arsenal in the hopes of banning equality in the state. But Iowa's Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal vows to never let the issue onto the floor while he's in charge.

“It’s clearer than ever that Republicans will stop at nothing to take away the constitutional rights of Iowans," said Sen. Gronstal. "I hope that Republicans will join our efforts and focus their...

...and this is what we get. Sure, we had slightly different expectations than a lip dub of Dandy Warhols "Bohemian Like You," but the boys are gorgeous and show in this video they might be able to handle something a little more complicated than strutting the catwalk.

...and he refuses to pay. The amount is being billed to Lt. Dan Choi for the remaining time he didn't serve -- because he was kicked out under DADT. He's written a letter to President Obama explaining why he will not pay the bill, and has made his plea public.

Is gender all in the head? Researchers in Spain seem to think so—at least when it comes to identifying "transsexuals." In a preview to a study set for release next month, New Scientist Magazine looks into the National University of Distance Education's work with brain scans and reports that an area of grey matter may actually hold the key to identifying transsexual people before puberty.

The key brain region involved is the BSTc. Doctors could potentially use this information to delay puberty to improve the success of a gender reassignment surgery later.

"In a study due to be published next month, the team ran MRI scans on the brains of 18 female-to-male transsexual people who'd had no treatment and compared them with those...

Fallen pastor Ted Haggard seems to change his story more times than a daddy changes the diaper of his six-month-old gayby with a case of the runs (draw any similarities you may choose from that sentence).

According to new interview with GQ, the fallen non-meth user...

Earlier this month we advised Zeb Atlas to stick to porn. We'd never say that to the mutli-talented Colton Ford. With this a capella cover of Taylor Swift's "Innocent," silver-haired daddy Colton once again proves that his vocal talent is as big and skilled as his..., well, you know.

A new HRC report on the LGBT-issues surveyed in America over the past few years shows that President Obama could not be more at odds with the American majority. In 1996, when Obama voiced support for marriage equality, the majority of Americans were against it (75%). In 2010, when Obama vocally opposed marriage rights for gay couples, a majority of Americans (52%) supported equality.

Other fun facts gleaned from HRC's Polling Report (found at www.hrc.org/pollingreport) include:

In 2009, 89% of Americans believed LGBT should have equal rights when it comes to employment.

In 2010, 77% of people polled said they know someone who identifies as LGBT, compared with 42% in 1992.

The war on HIV/AIDS might receive a new weapon in the form of a 'smart bomb' that 'blows up' HIV cells. According to researchers who published their findings in Science Translational Medicine, if human trials go as expected, the technique could be used to treat the devastating drug-resistant forms of HIV that are spreading at frightening speed.

Scientific American reports:

The molecule, known as a chimaera, is composed of two different types of RNA: a small interfering RNA (siRNA), designed to enter infected cells and block the expression of two genes that HIV needs to replicate, and an RNA sequence known as an aptamer, which binds tightly to gp120, a protein found on the surface of HIV and HIV-infected cells. The aptamer has a dual role:...

Screw Kings Of Leon and Slash -- Glee needs to stick to the gaydored music it's pimped in the past. With that in mind, a Facebook group has popped up aiming to help Chris Colfer add "some sparkle" to the show with the tunes of Scissor Sisters. We're kicking spanking ourselves for not thinking of this first as it makes complete and utter sense! If Ryan Murphy and Jake Shears decide to go down this glittery road hand-in-hand, which Scissor Sisters song do you think Chris Colfer should tackle on Glee?

Arkansas grocery chain Harps decided that the current issue of US Magazine featuring Elton John, David Furnish and their son Zachary on the cover is inappropriate for children for some reason, and has censored it with the following message [SIC]: Family Shield. To protect young Harps shoppers.

While we await for comment from Harps (we've heard the store's representation is not commenting on the matter), you can voice rightful outrage at (870) 425-6556.

Ke$ha, who pretty much rules the world no matter how hard haters hate, was recently named the Billboard Hot 100 Artist of 2010, boast's last year's top-selling digital single "Tik Tok," and has just SOLD OUT every single stop on her first headlining tour (which kicks off February 15 in Portland). The bitch is on fire! And we might have repossessed the dolla sign from her name here on the blog in the past, but the pop-tart's just released Funny Or Die video puts the sleazy princess back in our hearts. Sure, there needs to be an autotune tool to drown her acting in, but, c'mon, this is hilarious (and slightly NSFW).
