12-Year-Old Lesbian Who Came Out In Front Of Church Honored By HRC
12-year-old Savannah went viral after video of her coming out as gay in front of her Mormon church congregation hit the internet. While she may have been cut off in church, she received a standing ovation and a captive audience at Human Rights Campaign Utah's gala in Salt Lake City.
HRC event chair Dustin Williams told a tearful Savannah, “We have a message for you: That we love you, that we’re proud of you. We want you to keep being yourself and don’t let anyone stop you.”
Speaking to the audience Savannah shared, “Even though I’m small, and I don’t really have a video to go with what I’m saying, I have a lot of love to share—I love you guys so much.”
