5 Phenomenal Queer Couples Who Attended Prom in 2018

For as much hate as millennials get, one thing that they have gotten truly right is their ability to accept others for who they are.  This could not be truer than the vast amount of queer couples who have attended prom this year, as they have been showcasing just how special their night was all over social media.

Going to prom with someone with someone of the same sex or identifies with you as LGBTQ is something that is still somewhat frowned upon, but honestly, we are getting there. This was a non-issue even a decade ago as many of us would never dream of bringing our boyfriends or girlfriends to the prom.  Now, it's becoming more and more normal, and these incredible photos prove that and then some. Take this high school football star who went to prom with his swim team boyfriend.  Truly awesome.

Here's hoping that this generation continues their compassion and kindness onto the next so homophobia will continue to be a thing of the past.  Glad that all these couples got to experience a one of a kind night with the person they love that will hopefully give them memories they will never, ever forget.

Gay life in the U.S. under President Trump IS good.

Which anti-gay attempts ?

Trump’s anti-LGBT actions are overwhelming, like not declaring June LGBT Pride Month, as Presidents Obama and Clinton did, and not mentioning gay and bisexual men or transgender women - groups disproportionately burdened by HIV here and globally - in his World AIDS Day declaration. Trump has rolled back the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity data on surveys, which was expanded under the previous administration.

His administration has taken numerous actions to undermine the Affordable Care Act, which cut rates of insurance among lesbian, gay and bisexual people in half. It also helped many people living with HIV access insurance who previously could not get it and sharply reduced racial/ethnic disparities in health insurance coverage, a key driver of racial/ethnic health disparities.

Trump has failed to appoint a Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy for the first time since President Clinton created it, and the Centers for Disease Control put the kibosh on using seven terms in descriptions of the agency’s work, including “transgender” and “evidence-based.”

Trump’s budget proposal would gut funding for the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and the CDC. A proposed $1.1 billion cut to global HIV prevention and treatment would cause thousands of adults and children to lose treatment, and many would die. Progress cutting new global HIV infections in half over the past 15 years would be reversed.

Trump has also reversed American leadership to promote an end to anti-LGBT persecution around the world. President George W. Bush’s administration included anti-LGBT persecution in its State Department’s country reports, and President Obama’s State Department promoted LGBT equality as a goal of U.S. foreign policy.

The Trump administration removed pro-LGBT content from the department’s website, and does not prioritize human rights. Over the past year several governments - Tanzania, Chechnya, and Indonesia - have unleashed campaigns of persecution against gay men and LGBT people.

Candidate Trump promised to protect LGBT people against another terrorist attack fueled by fanatical, intolerant distortions of Islam. Yet as president, he is enacting policies pushed by conservative Christian Americans that are causing great harm to LGBT people, and that many would argue distort the meaning of Christianity.

Next question...

I did not see this mentioned in your response, but let's not forget Trump's repeated attempts to prevent transgender soldiers from remaining in the service of their country.  Trump is an old-time racist from the 1950's and he will never change so don't waste your time trying to change him.

Transgenders aren't gay. Has nothing to do with my life.    Now...gay men getting married at West Point IS a good thing, and shows the homophobic Muslim enemies that gay-and-U.S.-military-power are not mutually exclusive......so don't think your religious primitive nutjob natures will protect you if you screw with us.

Yeah, kind of pointless to argue with someone who believes in religious fairy-tales, no matter what the flavor.  So, last time I checked, the commonly accepted term of "LGBT," includes the "T" which stands for transgender.  And, that this "has nothing to do with my life," misses the point entirely.  But, like most of today's bible-thumpers, you claim the high ground while disregarding Christ's teachings.  As an atheist, I find my behavior and treatment of others to be closer to those of Christ than I do of many of his followers.  As Ghandi said, "I rather like your Christ.  I'm not so fond of his followers."  [paraphrased.]  I agree.

You have a good life while the rest of us activists do our best to ensure you will continue to do so despite the deplorable buffoon currently residing in the White House.  The sad part is that he does give one iota about you or anyone else.  If burning the White House to the ground would please his base and improve his dismal polling numbers, he'd be there with a pack of matches.  Character matters and has none.  Take away his questionable wealth and his dubious fame from a white-trash TV show, and you would have a person no one would call a friend.  And, that is sad for him.

Gandhi was a charlatan as much as Jerry Falwell or the Dalai Lama or any of them. And I don't know Trump personally, nor his character, but his effects on gay life in the U.S. have been excellent (NO Pulse massacres; compared to the anti-gay atrocities Muslims are pulling in Europe now). And there's only one religion that officially kills and imprisons gays today and that's Islam. And most gays are so self-hating that they want the U.S. borders thrown wide open to anyone, from any country, who follows Islam. Young gays, who aren't self-hating,  don't deserve that.

Well stated.  It's clearly pointless to respond additionally to RTE-66's comments.  I am unsure how any LGBT person (or anyone, frankly) could support Trump and his administration on any topic.  It is all well past the pale at this point.

Because you can't come up with anything real. You're just holding onto your fantasy of Trump making the U.S. into a homophobic dystopia. It's all in your own bitter head. And I'm not going to let your bitterness actually endanger the lives of young gay Americans who deserve a future.

Plenty of "real" transgressions by Trump exist.  You just have to turn off Fox & Friends and look at the real world to see what is going on.

And, the presumption that I am bitter, presumably because Hillary lost, is far from the truth.  I was not a huge Hillary fan but I assumed she would continue with Obama's slow-but-steady advancements of progress for all and improvements to business.  She was "comfortable" and "reliable," and most of us assumed she would win the race easily.  Few of us, in our liberal bubbles, assumed anyone would vote for this con man with his long list of failures, inexperience, poor manners, countless indiscretions, and limited intelligence.  He is "reality TV" and we all know the demographic that watches that claptrap - certainly, not the people you wish to run one of the most powerful nations on the planet.

It is not about Hillary's loss.  It's about Trump, of all people, winning.  Had Jeb, Kasich, Romney, or any other normal GOP run and won, we would have shrugged our shoulders with a "win some, lose some" and move on.  Instead, we got Trump.

Fortunately, those of us inside the beltway know that this is a short-term event.  The rest of the world leaders know he's a short-time buffoon and are just riding it out until he disappears and we can get the USA back onto a normal track.

I know you won't agree and I don't really care if you do.  I will stay in my liberal bubble and work as an activist as I have done now for close to 50 years.  Those who support Trump (I've never met, worked with, or seen one here in DC) will continue to believe as they wish, ultimately to their own disadvantage.  We warned them.  That's all we can do.  Once you've drunk the Kook-Aid, there's little antidote available.

That's why you're bitter: the world has changed, the west accepts gay life, and...the new enemy is Islam which makes the past homophobes look like pussycats. (In Indonesia they are actually proposing to behead those convicted of same-sex relations now. in 2018!) And Hillary Clinton was a liar who put Muslim (Huma) Shariah Law fanatics over American gay lives. And still would. She had no businesss being in the White House and I'll never forget the joy and relief I felt at finding out Trump had won in the early morning hours.

Sorry, your views are literally delusional.  The "threat" of all this Muslim stuff is ridiculous.  1/3 of the planet in Muslim.  If they all wanted us dead, we'd be dead long ago.  All you see are the religious nutcases on TV.  We have our share of religious nutcases here in the USA.  I will give you they are not blowing themselves up, but the attacks we do see are often based upon religious claptrap, so don't give the "Christians" a break on this.  They endorse conversion therapy and actively seek to prevent adoptions by same-sex couples, and generally, do their damnedest to marginalize and deny equal rights to the LGBT community.  And, where does all this primarily occur?  In the southern bible-belt, where else?  All that is based solely on Christian religious beliefs.  I've never met an atheist screaming at the LGBT community that they are going to burn in hell for not being an atheist.

I happened to work and live in the Middle East decades ago.  Those folks, to a person, were normal, ordinary folks who rolled their eyes at the religious zealots as much as we do here when the Klan, the Alt-Right, and Neo-Nazis hold rallies.  Don't forget the Westboro Baptist Church - stellar examples of Christian faith.  There are some nutcases in the world but they are not the world, not a country, and not a religion, specifically.

You should checkout the southern evangelical / fundamentalist preachers who have traveled to Africa and spread their Christian message of hatred towards gays.  Brian Brown of NOM endorsed this crowd, hoping their evil message would spread across the ocean to the USA so as to roll-back the civil rights we have worked decades to obtain.

And, Hillary and Sharia law?  Seriously?  I'm sure you believe every bizarre conspiracy theory about Hillary, Bill, and the Clintons, in general.  I have seen zero documented facts to support your claim.

Perhaps, you should go out and make friends with some Muslim people.  You will find them everywhere.  And, no, they are not all wrapped up in traditional garb.  I don't object to Jews wearing a cap, Indians wearing a sari, or nuns wearing a habit.  I imagine you find traditional Islamic attire offensive.  I find rednecks with ripped T-shirts and butt-cracks offensive, but they have a right to wear what they want.

You need to chill-out and broaden your circle of friends and discover how the real world works.

If the average people "rolled their eyes" at religious Muslim zealots in the MidEast then those countries wouldn't carry out capital punishment for homosexual acts. And in the U.S....Muslims (who are still a small part of the population) have tried to mass murder gay men five times already. (Only the Pulse massacre wasn't foiled).

Everybody reading this, just remember....do NOT let any older gay activist types try to fool you into thinking Muslims are as benevolent (or at least benign) as the average Methodist family in the suburbs or deli-owning Jews in Brooklyn. Research the way gays are treated, under the law, in every Muslim-majority country on the globe........EVERY single one, and you'll realize it's not a religion we can allow to gain any traction in the U.S.  Don't hand over your right to the pursuit of happiness to any mohammad-believing-fantasy idiots. Fight to the death, even if it means kicking pork up the ass of the enemy.

"You need to chill-out and broaden your circle of friends and discover how the real world works." I learned about the real world when I went through the first WTC bombing. And everyone will see it when they become the majority in....first..the UK.

Every single Muslim-majority country is a hellhole for gays. From Asia to the Mid East to Africa to Europe. When I come back tonight here I'll list more facts: it won't change your mind, but everybody else reading this...with a semblance of reality...will see what I'm saying.

You'd be better off listing the countries that are "hell holes" for the LGBT community, in general.  You will find Muslim countries but not Turkey.  You will find Christian countries in Africa who execute gays.  You also could add areas of the USA that are hell holes.  Don't forget to include the Evangelical, Fundamentalist, Mormon, and Catholic religions - all of whom claim tolerance as long as you shut-up and remain celibate.  I could take you to some gay bars in the Middle East.

You have to sort of equate the big cities of the Middle East similar to the big cities we have here, maybe 30 years ago.  Equate the barbaric areas of the world to our southern areas about 80 years ago.  We were no angels here.

Catholic countries like Argentina and Malta allow gay marriage. So do Catholic-secular and Protestant-secular all through Europe. If you are going to compare those religions, or atheism, to Islam then...you've gone senile. Islam was only homo-friendly in the Middle ages (the Persian poets) and somewhat during the Ottoman empire. Today it means death-to-gays.

I lay these problems at the feet of religion - in particular, backward, fundamentalist B.S.  That spans Islam and Christianity - a fact you seem to ignore.  You have a hatred of all Muslims and all that is Islam, regardless of what sect or belief they hold.  I don't hate all Christians - just the nutcases, the same as Islam.

Yawn. Better come up with a new response. None of that means anything, and hasn't changed a thing about any of our lives, except for the better. Even new recent polls show a jump in approval for same-sex marriage in the U.S.. Trump is the only President to go into office already in favor of gay marriage, and you should be glad he has an anti-Muslim edge (unless you think it's Christians in Chechnya and Indonesia and Hillary's favorite Qatar killing gays). Under Trump gays are hired if qualified, same as anyone else, and the Muslim massacre of gays in San Francisco bars (the next Pulse) was foiled. Of course...you COULD have had Hillary Islam is not our enemy!!" Clinton in offfice and more Pulse massacres, but not all of us gays are so self-hating.
