Is Britney Being Pushed Too Far Sexually? (Audio)
It's not a stretch to say that interviews with Britney Spears in recent years tend to be...controlled. We don't expect interviewers to veer too far off the strictly approved track, which makes us wonder whether Boston's The TJ Show went off-script this morning when interviewing Ms. Spears on the radio.
Why the concern? Well we think Britney may have been a little more honest than her people intended for her to be.
It started out innocently enough, when TJ asked how she felt about showing so much skin in her latest video "Work Bitch", Britney replied "Oh my god, we showed way more skin and did way more stuff for the video than what is actually there," she says. "Like, I cut out half the video because I am a mother and because, you know, I have children, and it’s just hard to play sexy mom while you’re being a pop star as well... I just have to be true to myself and feel it out."
That's when TJ started to step off the reservation. He asked the Pop Princess:
"So in some sense, are they pushing you further than you want to go? And then you sit in the editing room and you say, no, that has to go? And that's pretty much how it's all lined up?"
Britney laughs, "Yes. Yes."
Surprisingly, TJ follows up, asking: "So if you had a chance to have all your people not say a word and you got to pick exactly what you want Britney Spears to be, what would that look like?"
"In a video?" Britney asks.
"Yeah," TJ responds, "in a video where they're making you do all kinds of sexy stuff and then you have to cut it out--is there a Britney Spears that you have in mind that you wish you could be today?"
"Well, it's so weird that you say that because part of what I do and a lot of things that made me do so well in my performances... a lot of sex goes into what I do," Britney explains, "But sometimes I would like to bring it back to the old days when there was like one outfit through the whole video, and you’re just dancing the whole video, and there’s like not that much sex stuff going on. It’s about the dance and it’s about being old school, it’s like keeping it real and just making it about the dance. I’d love to do a video like that."

As you know Britney's still under legal conservatorship, so no one really knows how much say she has over well, anything. (She may have way more control than we think--we'll probably never know.)
Her father Jamie Spears and manager Larry Rudolph quickly squashed accusations that Brit Brit's being pressured, saying, "Britney is never pressured into anything. She reviews all creative and for her 'Work Bitch' video she discussed toning down some parts in finding a balance of sexy and being a mom."
Do you think Britney's being pushed to do things she doesn't want to, Instincters? Was this an unintended glimpse behind the curtain?
Will she ever get to do that video that's all about the dance?!
