Burger King Introduces The Proud Whopper For LGBT Pride!

Burger King has introduced the Proud Whopper in celebration of LGBT Pride!

USA Today reports:

The Proud Whopper, as it's called, comes wrapped in a rainbow colored wrapper with this inscription: "We are all the same inside." It will be sold through Thursday at one Burger King restaurant on San Francisco's Market Street, that was at the heart of the route for last weekend's 44th annual San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade.

Burger King on Wednesday morning at 8 AM EST plans to post a two-minute video about the Proud Whopper on its YouTube channel.

"It showcases who we are as a brand," says Fernando Machado, senior vice president of global brand management at Burger King. "It shows how we, as a brand, believe in self expression."

Now far be it for us to encourage fast food in the days leading up to 4th of July pool and beach parties, but if you're in the San Francisco Bay Area this might be one meal to partake in!

Think we'll see this kind of trend make its way nationwide, Instincters??

I'm a vegetarian, but I love this beautiful "rainbow wrapper" idea.  3 VEGGIE WHOPPERS to go, please.  : )

Have it your way but we are all the same inside? Mixed messages here.

I say go big or go home , seems like they do it at this one spot because they know it will go well. If the had a strong support for the gay community they would do it everywhere during gay pride month, just saying its a good step forward but lets not be scared anymore to take leaps to equality

I'm going to throw up

Awesome ...
Do it at ALL Burger King ... I want one...

But San Francisco’s Market Street, is too far away from Lenexa, Kansas... :( ...

It's a brilliant advertising trick !! The news will go worldwide. Unfortunately the small lettering that this is just in ONE Burger King will be left behind. I agree with one of the comments before. You win my respect when you go Nationwide ... or even better: Worldwide !!

Neat idea, but only impressed if it were nationwide.  Though here in the south I'd be scared to order one, since I would expect some redneck would spit in it...

Unfortunately the 'one Burger King on Market Street' is disgustingly filthy and patronized almost exclusively by homeless people. Appreciate the sentiment but I will pass.

That's great! With all the company's having issues with everything these days, it's awesome to see a world wide company like burger King step up and back the LGBT community! You have my full support!
