Country Singer Billy Gilman Comes Out As Gay
On Thursday morning country star Ty Herndon came out as gay, and now singer Billy Gilman is following suit! Gilman became the youngest person to land on the Top 40 country music charts when his 2000 hit "One Voice" charted when he was 12-years-old.
Gilman says in the video that Herndon's decision to come out made his decision easier. (See--coming out can make a difference to more people than you know!)

Gilman revealed that he's been in a relationship with a man for the last five months. Though Gilman is still concerned for the ramifications coming out may have on his career, he's still made the bold step. He says:
You know, it's difficult for me to make this video not because I'm ashamed of being a gay male artist or a gay artist or a gay person. But it's pretty silly to know that I'm ashamed of doing this knowing that because I'm in an genre and industry that is ashamed of me for being me. That said, I want to say that all of the country artists that literally I grew up with - Keith Urban, Vince, Lee Ann Rhimes and all of these wonderful friends of mine have been nothing but supportive. Not that they knew but they've just been such wonderful people.
Congratulations, Billy! You're bravery and honesty will only be for the best.
