An Elton John Biopic Is Happening And We're Loving The Choice For Lead Actor!

Hold me closer, Taron Egerton! The twenty-eight-year-old Egerton is a leading man on the rise, and you may best recognize him for his starring roles in the Kingsman franchise or Eddie the Eagle. If you haven't yet caught him on the big screen, you can see Egerton in the upcoming Robin Hood, or better yet, the recently-greenlit Elton John biopic, Rocketman!

Deadline confirms that Egerton will take on the challenge of bringing Elton's most iconic years to theaters, stating:

The film covers the singer/pianist’s growth from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin. It is an unvarnished rock ‘n’ roll biopic with John’s life stripped back of the glitter.

The seventy-one-year-old Elton John isn't just a talented musician, but also a pioneer in bringing gay celebritydom to households across the world. Whether conservative or liberal, everyone was (and is) rocking out to Elton, and considering that he came out in Rolling Stone all the way back in 1976, his influence cannot be understated.

Egerton seems like the perfect actor to take on the role of Elton in Rocketman, and it doesn't hurt that he isn't the worst thing to look at. Interestingly, Egerton has a set of pipes of his own, and will actually be singing the iconic songs in the flick - which as of yet does not have a release date. Are you excited for Rocketman? Let us know!
