Eminem Clarified His Grindr Comment

Yesterday, we shared the news that Eminem said that he used Grindr to find dates.

In an interview with Vulture to promote his new album Revival, Eminem talked about dating and said a line that raised more than a few eyebrows.

V: Do you date?
E: It’s tough. Since my divorce I’ve had a few dates and nothing’s panned out in a way that I wanted to make it public. Dating’s just not where I’m at lately.

When you were dating, how’d you meet people? Tinder?
I mean, yeah.

Are you being serious?
Yeah, Tinder.

Really?
[Laughs] And Grindr. I also used to go to strip clubs.

As you can imagine, that comment got some people talking (because some people can't tell if he's joking or not).

Now, Eminem is clarifying the statement through a spokesperson to confirm that it was just a joke.

“I’m confirming that he was joking about using both Tinder and Grindr,” the rep told The Muse.

So for those who swear Eminem is hiding in the closet, you're not getting a coming out story today.

What would be the big deal if Eminem used Grindr to meet people?  I know several straight guys that use all manner of social apps, including Grindr.  They simply specify in their profile that they're interested in friends only.  It's a way of expanding your social circles and finding people of common interest.  Grindr connections don't necessarily have to involve sex.  That being said, if I ever find the Real Slim Shady on Grindr, I'm gonna make sure he enjoys the ride!

This has to be the dumbest comment I have ever read no straight man would ever in a million years download Grindr on his phone to look for new friends give me a break. Grindr is a hook-up app for gays not a friendship app and if a straight man has Grindr on their phone then he's in the closet and he's lying. I'm openly gay and I have many straight friends and I guarantee you they would never do this and I would like the names and numbers of your so-called friends that do this because it is the biggest joke and made up story that I have ever heard.

I came here to say this.  People don't download a gay hookup app for friends and if they did then they're either completely ignorant, have been seriously misled, or are lying through their teeth.

I came here to say exactly this.  People don't download gay hookup apps for friends.  If they've told you that, they are either seriously ignorant about what the app is for, someone played a serious prank on them, or they are just lying.  Lol!
