Ezra Miller Signed On For Hollywood's Adaption Of An Award-Winning Japanese Novel
Ezra Miller has signed on for his next film project, and it looks like it’s going to be a horror movie.
Deadline reports that the Fantastic Beasts and Justice League star has joined the Hollywood film adaption of a Japanese novel called The Mourner.
Itamu Hito or The Mourner follows a bitter homicide detective tracking murderous sex traffickers. This female detective then crosses paths with a mysterious young man (played by Miller). Miller’s character explains that his life’s purpose is to mourn the dead who have no one else to mourn them. But is there more to the situation that the detective understands?
The original book by Arata Tendo was a Naoki Prize winning novel that inspired a Japanese film adaption in 2015. And now, a Western version of the film has been announced.
This new adaption will be directed by Casper Kiriya (Last Knights) and its script was by Robin Shushan (AMC’s Feed the Beast). Echo Lake Entertainment (Tsoti, The Ward, and You Kill Me) is set to produce the movie. Meanwhile, Paradigm will start sales for the film project at the EFM in Berlin.
So far, no one has been cast in the lead detective roll, but there's still time as production for the film is planned for Summer 2019.
