The First Episode of Viceland's 'My House' Will Have You Death Dropping

When Paris is Burning shook the world over 20 years ago exposing the raw world of voguing and ball culture it became a language for the LGBTQIA community that has since been echoed in independent and mainstream media.

Paris is Burning has educated the children on the ball vernacular that has given rise to queer fandom for the club kid movement, RuPaul’s Drag Race and the upcoming Pose by FX auteur Ryan Murphy. While Paris is Burning will always remain the foundation for the love of the ball culture, it has made way for other interpretations and re-inventions all for the love of voguing.

One such iteration of this is Viceland’s new docuseries My House, which immerses viewers into New York’s queer voguing ballroom scene. The story follows voguers Tati 007, Alex Mugler, Jelani Mizrahi, Lolita Balenciaga and Relish Milan as they vow for the highest titles as legends in the ballroom. The show also features Precious Ebony, a renowned ballroom commentator who provides much insight on the key elements of voguing and ball culture as we learn about the legendary houses of today.

My House premiered on April 25th where viewers got a glimpse of the coldest winter ever. My House airs Wednesday at 10:30pm on Viceland. Check yourself in to watch the eleganza and learn that “Ballroom is where your wildest dreams can come true, but to receive validation, status and recognition: you must walk.”
