Gay Server Who Was Stiffed By Homophobic Restaurant Customers Pays Massive Donations Forward
Dayna Morales, the former Marine and server at New Jersey's Gallop Asian Bistro who received a homophobic message in place of a tip, continues to turn the deplorable situation into tangible positivity in the world.
In an interview with CNN, Dayna reveals that she's received more than $2,000 in "tips" from all over the world after the restaurant set up a PayPal fund for those who wished to help out. "People have sent me tips from all over the world just to show support," she tells CNN. "I have had people from Germany to South Africa, Australia to the UK, San Diego, everywhere."
Dayna's plans for the money? Paying it forward to her fellow servicemembers and vets by donating it all to the Wounded Warrior Project. On top of that, Gallop Asian Bistro has promised to match every donation given to Dayna in support of local LGBT charities.
"It wasn't for the money. I never planned on this. I just wanted to vent," she said. "The purpose was to inform people it wasn't OK."
