Gay Soccer Player Collin Martin Goes Speed Dating In "Late Late Live Tinder"

Collin Martin is hunting for a date on tv.

Martin is the only openly gay athlete to be professionally playing in a major American sport league right now. Martin came out last summer through a tweet in which he said:

“Tonight my team, @mnufc , is having their Pride night. It's an important night for me — I'll be announcing that I am an openly gay player in Major League Soccer. #soccerforall.”

Included in the tweet was also a screenshot of a longer message going:

“I have been out as a gay man for many years to my family and friends, and this includes my teammates,” Martin wrote in his post. “Today, I’m proud that my entire team and the management of Minnesota United know that I am gay. I have received only kindness and acceptance from everyone in Major League Soccer and that has made my decision to come out publicly much easier.”

Despite initially being concerned, coming out went well for Martin. Not only has it earned him “More DMs” than before, but he’s gotten enough of a publicity boost to show up on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

But being a professional soccer player doesn’t leave much time for dating. Thankfully, James Corden had Martin covered.

Corden had Martin appear for his “Late Late Live Tinder” game. Martin had to judge a line of men as if he was on Tinder. He would swipe left to reject men, and thus send them into a ball pit of despair. Or, he would swipe right to signify his interest in something more.

But did Martin find the one? Did he go through with a date or did he find only duds in that line? Check out the video below to find out.
