This is a human event, touching and real. I long for the day when the "gay" part of this doesn't have to attract any attention. May all beings be happy.

I still don't know why people want to get pre-divorced... I mean married; but at least these two men can do so legally.

"That's pretty gay" Correct you are! Two men getting engaged is, in fact, gay. Thank you, and tune in next week for Unnecessary Commentary By Assholes, with your host, "Putin"!

Some people hate being fat. Some people love being fat. Some people hate being queer. Some people love being queer. Some people hate being a certain race. Some people are proud to be that race. What's important is that there is rarely ever escaping who we are.

I myself hated being Iraqi when I was a kid. I was different from everyone else, and everyone picked on me. I told my mom I hated being Muslim and wanted to be Christian dye my hair blonde and get blue contact lenses. My mom laughed but at the same time it hurt her, because it invalidated at the most her identity and at the least her ability to instill the values of the society in the nation where her parents raised her in me.

I don't hate myself anymore. I am proud to tell people I am Iraqi, and I'm hope as you're reading this right now that you don't hide your race, your size, your interests or who you want to love from others because it frankly is depressing and unhealthy. It's better to love as these two men have chosen to publicly display their identities.

"We were born and raised in the deep south. We can actually go back to our home states and get married in the Carolinas."

This was in front of their families. Yes, when you attend conventions, people that close to you aren't just your friends. They are in a way a form of surrogate family, people who will not only accept you but enjoin in their common love for what you love together, in this case all that Comic Con has to offer. Why else do you think Will Wheaton is crying? He sees the same people every year. They're not just special people to him. They're people who is many aspects of his life know and love part of him so much deeper than many of his closest members of his family will ever love that aspect of him and help him to love himself and his fellow man.

We were beat up, called nerd, faggot, four eyes, alien, sand nigger, beaner and all sorts of ugly names our whole lives, our entire lives, so when two men like these show they are queer nerds who love each other and their fellow nerds cheer, applaud and burst into tears, they are saying, "We support you, and we love that you love each other." That is something we would never have without identity.

Thank for you .I don't hide myself anymore .I proud to tell people I am conservative.I very hate pop culture(mostly American culture).I hate L.G.B.T. activist .I hate the way our social going to be. The society of free sex  ,divorce ,selfish ,pop music etc . I feel like I am a lone in the world, in the age is not belong to me . Now,I proud to be myself and I don't change myself to be a pop culture man .I don't hide it anymore.

Proud to be a hateful bigot with borderline non-existent English skills. Well, I suppose it's better to know where people like you are rather than have you skulking about like normal people.

Hate is a choice, unlike being Iraqi. LGBT, black or anything else. Hatred destroys the hater more often than the thing that he hates. Hate is a cancer. Love heals. I hope that you grow old enough to understand this someday.

Why the mention of, "GAY"?

+1

It's an article on the internet related to gay rights. Not having the word "gay" present would be bad for SEO. It's the way of the internet ;)

Essentially having "gay" in the title just makes it clickbait and you took it. =)

my only comment is why do you have to mention their gay? why cant it just be a couple got engaged at Comicon in front of 7000 people.

Because the fact that two men can do this without fear is hugely significant and yet there are still millions of Anericans would be disgusted by this and would gleefully deny them this right and all their other rights.
