Grab The Kleenex: 40-Year-Old Deaf Woman Hears For First Time

Thanks to a cochlear implant, 40-year-old Jo Milne, is hearing sound for the first time in her life. Milne had been deaf since birth due to Usher Syndrome, but that all changes before our eyes as her implants are switched on for the first time in this video.
"The switch-on was the most emotional and overwhelming experience of my life and I'm still in shock now. The first day everybody sounded robotic and I have to learn to recognize what these sounds are as I build a sound library in my brain," she told the Journal.
