Hottie Daniel Radcliffe Shades Alleged Abuser Johnny Depp!
With all the rapid-fire slamming of the h8ers happening on the Internet, it's easy to forget that at the end of the day, the goal isn't to recreate the energy of a drunken Real Housewives pool party brawl, but instead to hopefully open up a discourse about problematic individuals. Johnny Depp has the market cornered on problematic, or at least he did up until the knowledge of a certain producer's misuse of hotel room bath robes came to light, and mega hottie Brit Daniel Radcliffe is raising his pinky in the air like he just don't care while sipping on some hot, but equally reserved and classy, tea!
Depp is slated to portray Gellert Grindelwald in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and his casting had more then a few heads turning considering his ex Amber Heard's shocking allegations of Depp's domestic abuse. The current climate in Hollywood doesn't allow for much leeway in this department, but nonetheless people associated with the sure-fire blockbuster came to Depp's defense, including J.K. Rowling herself. Now Harry Potter is finally weighing in, and he is not so quick to throw the Invisibility Cloak over Depp's actions:
I can see why people are frustrated with the response that they were given from that … I’m not saying anything that anybody hasn’t already said — and this is a weird analogy to draw — [but] in the NFL, there are lots of players arrested for smoking weed and there is other people’s behavior that goes way beyond that and it’s tolerated because they’re very famous players. I suppose the thing I was struck by was, we did have a guy who was reprimanded for weed on the [original Potter] film, essentially, so obviously what Johnny has been accused of is much greater than that.
Just Jared adds: "Jamie Waylett, who played the role of Vincent Crabbe in the first six Harry Potter movies, was let go from Deathly Hallows after he was arrested for growing marijuana plants." Honestly, does Radcliffe even live in the 21st century? This is the kind of rebuttal one would hear coming out of Queen Elizabeth II's mouth during a heated, but of course refined and measured, exchanging of words on The Crown! It's going to be very hard for Depp's defenders to justify his involvement if more people like Radcliffe come forward, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out leading up to the November 2018 release of Fantastic Beasts 2. Do you think Depp is in deep, or does Radcliffe need to forgive and forget? Let us know in the comments!
