Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn Will Sign Marriage Equality Into Law On November 20

Illinois will officially become the 15th state to legalize marriage equality when Gov. Pat Quinn signs the measure into law on November 20, we've just learned.

"Marriage equality is coming to Illinois," Gov. Quinn said. "I look forward to signing this landmark legislation on November 20 and celebrating a big step forward with the people of Illinois."

Quinn has supported the measure and called for its swift passage from the very first moment that state Sen. Heather Steans and state Rep. Greg Harris introduced the bill earlier this year.

The ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. (cst) at the University of Chicago (UIC) Forum on Wednesday, November 20.

The ceremony is going to be at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Forum (Halsted & Roosevelt), not the University of Chicago in Hyde Park.
