Japan's First Lady Speaks Out In Support Of LGBT Rights

Japan's First Lady, Akie Abe spoke boldly in support of LGBT rights on Thursday at a LGBT pride event sponsored by the United States embassy in Tokyo. Abe said:

"There is no difference to importance of love from sexual orientation. There should not be any discrimination because who you love. I am going to raise my voice. If my raised voice could contribute to the pride of LGBT people, there is no greater joy."

We love this--particularly because her husband, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, hasn't taken the same public stance.

The First Lady is an ally and sisters are doin' it for themselves!

Mrs. Abe previously appeared at Tokyo's Gay Pride parade in April
