Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons and his boyfriend Todd Spiewak have always kept a low profile, but the pair publicly spoke about their relationship for the first time last night as they were honored by the LGBT youth advocacy group GLSEN with the Inspiration Award.

Parsons spoke to E! on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel, saying: "If we're inspiring at all, it's that we're a very average normal just moving right along with our lives kind of people. That doesn't feel like you could possibly be inspirational when you're going through those day-to-day motions, but I get it."

On stage while accepting the honor Parsons told those in attendance:

"I've never considered myself an activist," Parsons said. "I've never considered my relationship with Todd to be an act of activism. Rather simply, it's an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs [out]—a regular life, boring love.

"Now all this said, no one is giving us an award for activism. I realize this," he continued. "If we are indeed inspiration to others by simply being who we are and living our lives in the way that feels right to us then we have to thank the same people who help any other couple who continue a successful relationship—our friends and family. We are both surrounded by so many people who make our lives better and easier, friends we've had for many years and friends we've made since living in L.A."

What do you think, Instincters? Is the very act of living your life how you choose and with the one you love inspirational?

See we're just regular guys going about our everyday lives.  The only difference is who we sleep with.

I had to google "GLSEN." Maybe next time you can mention what it is in the article.

Yes it is... I myself am in a Relationship with a person I choose to be with. Family and friends are accepting. An those that choose to be vocal against us ARE NOT in our lives anymore, because its our choice to be with each other.
