The Jonas Brothers Officially Break Up

That sound you hear--a cross between a rabid wounded animal and the guttural moan that erupts when a brunch location doesn't serve mimosas--is millions of Jonas Brothers fans going apoplectic due to the news that the band is breaking up.

The Jonas Brothers tell PEOPLE:

"It's over for now," Kevin Jonas says.

"It's really hard to say 'forever,' " says Nick. "We're closing a chapter, for sure."

"It was a unanimous decision," says Joe.

It came after a meeting on Oct. 3, where Nick Jonas confessed to his brothers that he had serious concerns about the future of the band.

"I was feeling kind of trapped," he said. "I needed to share my heart with my brothers."

If any of the brothers need a shoulder to cry on during this difficult time, we're here.

Take heart, Instincters. This just means Nick Jonas will have more time to spend in the gym.
