Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg: Marriage Equality Shows Constitution's 'Genius'
Go Ruth!! Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is making her position on marriage equality extremely clear--well, if you can get any clearer than officiating a same-sex wedding.
On Friday, speaking to a Philadelphia audience the liberal justice reflected on the "genius" of the U.S. Constitution, specifically as it pertains to equality and the country's growing acceptance of same-sex marriage.
Ginsburg said equality has always been central to the Constitution, even if society has only applied it to minorities — be they women, blacks or gays — over time.
"So I see the genius of our Constitution, and of our society, is how much more embracive we have become than we were at the beginning," Ginsburg said in a far-ranging discussion of her work at the National Constitution Center, steps from the nation's founding at Independence Hall.
We love how bold Justice Ginsburg is in her proclamations in support of equality!
Conservative justices should take note. Ginsburg isn't afraid to get loud!
