The L Word Is Officially Coming Back For A New Season

A new season of the groundbreaking lesbian drama series, The L Word, is officially in development at Showtime.

According to BuzzFeed, three of the shows original cast members, Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig, and Leisha Hailey, will serve as executive producers, in addition to reprising their roles as Bette, Shane, and Alice, respectively.

Back in May, show creator Iilene Chaiken, and several of The L Word ladies had a mini-reunion for EW's LGBT issue.

Then said Chaiken, of the possibility of a series revival:

"There’s certainly a chance. We talk about it all the time. When we went off the air in 2009, I think a lot of people thought, 'Okay, the baton is passed now, and there will be lots of shows that portray lesbian life.' There’s really nothing. It feels like maybe it should come back."
