Liza Minnelli Talks About Ellen's "Female Impersonator" Oscars Joke
While the entire world debates whether or not Ellen's joke about Liza being a female impersonator during the Oscars opening was transphobic or not, the punch line of the joke herself has finally reacted to the "controversy."
First, a refresher. Here's the joke that caused some in the music to accuse Ellen of "transphobia": "Hello to the best Liza Minnelli impersonator I’ve ever seen. Good job, sir.”
Today, Liza herself quickly discussed her take on the joke with TMZ.
"I think she thought it would be funny, but she never stopped after she said it and said, 'My friend Liza Minnelli.' So I think it went a little astray on her."
"I don't think she meant any harm at all," Liza continued. "She's a wonderful lady."
No harm done, right? Will this be the end of the "controversy"?
