Log Cabin Republicans: Send Money So We Can Save LGBT Advances Made Under President Obama

gregorytangelo

Is this real life?

Believe it or not, the Log Cabin Republicans are asking for contributions to help them, "ensure the advances in LGBT freedom we have made thus far remain secure and continue in a Trump administration."

Without giving any credit to President Obama, natch.

In a press release, Log Cabin Republicans president Gregory T. Angelo writes:

It’s been a whirlwind couple of days, but I didn’t want to wait another minute to share this important news: For the past three weeks, I’ve been in regular communication with the Trump Transition Team, the group tasked with organizing personnel and policy for our president-elect.

While Log Cabin Republicans was working to have a relationship with our nation’s incoming chief executive, the LGBT Left was busy demonizing Donald Trump and fundraising off of bogeymen.

I can’t say it’s surprising — what else can they do now? After working for decades against Republicans rather than with them and putting all their faith into the failed candidacy of Hillary Clinton, purportedly “non-partisan” LGBT advocacy groups now face GOP majorities in the House and Senate, and a Republican in the White House for the next 4 — or perhaps even EIGHT — years.

That’s why the work of Log Cabin Republicans is so important. In fact, it’s more important than it’s ever been. Collectively, LGBT advocacy organizations on the Left have staff in the hundreds. Budgets in the millions. And yet, they don’t have a single point of contact in the incoming Trump administration. Log Cabin Republicans does.

Think about that. While LGBT liberals were breathlessly lamenting this fact to the New York Times, Log Cabin Republicans was quietly working behind-the-scenes to ensure the advances in LGBT freedom we have made thus far remain secure and continue in a Trump administration.

No one else is doing this. That’s why your support is needed so much right now. Please give now and give generously — $250, $100, $50, or whatever you can give will make a difference when it matters most.

And if you’re not a member (or if your membership has lapsed) now is the time to “come back to the Cabin”! Join or renew your membership at this link right now. Log Cabin Republicans will continue to work for full equality on behalf of all LGBT Americans. That’s my vow, and it’s why I’m writing to you tonight.

We wouldn't have to try to save what advances we've made, if you stood up and said no to the homophobic administration and the platform of the Republican party. You say we made a mistake, by "not having a single point of contact". They openly advocate rolling back our rights. I will not support them, or you, while the platform openly discriminates against me, or any of my friends.

We tried to tell you, but you knew better than the rest of us.  They took your money, they took your vote.  Now we have Mike Pence, only a step away from being president.  The only thing in his way is a 70 year old man who is overweight and eats fast food every day.

I suggest you come join us.  We will find room for you in the bunker.  They will come for us, and that includes you.

You cost us enough already by losing the Supreme Court. Go away. Please just go away.

That's a big NO for me.  They knew what they were getting themselves into.  “You reap what you sow”

It's not unreasonable to keep a voice INSIDE the Republican party.  Constantly allowing yourselves to be the "victim" and an enemy to the establishment isn't going to get you anything. Especially if you land Mike Pence as a Presidential candidate some day. Better off dealing with Trump...who's a New Yorker accustomed to and familiar with the idea of the rights of gay people.

So Trump spent millions upon his own campaign, but won't fish a penny out his pocket to help with the funds for this important action. I smell a fish with these republicans, if they fail do they return your money, I guess not.

The self-loathing 14% of the LGBT community that voted for Trump are going to get what they deserved. Unfortunately, the rest of us will suffer as well. Thanks a bunch, LCR.
