Morrissey's 'Autobiography' Gets De-Gayed
Singer Morrissey released his autobiograpy, aptly titled Autobiography, in the UK this past October, but strangely the US version of the book which came out this week is missing some important details.
For some reason Morrissey's gay relationship with photographer Jake Walters has been almost entirely removed from the story. It's like it didn't happen.
Oh, but it did, Morrissey. Oh, but it did.
The former The Smiths star published his hotly-anticipated autobiography in the U.K. in October (13), and the book hit headlines over a section in which the rocker confirms long-running rumours he had a relationship with snapper Jake Walters in the mid-1990s.
The tome, titled Autobiography, details several anecdotes involving Walters, and Morrissey writes movingly of their two years together, but in the U.S. release, which was published on Tuesday (03Dec13), many details in the original book are missing or edited down.
A photograph of Walters as a boy has also been removed, and his name has been cut out of a story detailing a night out with The Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde.
What do you think the deal is, Instincters?
Did Morrissey or his publishers think no one would notice?
