NFL Exec Troy Vincent: I Played With Six Openly Gay Players

Troy Vincent, former National Football League defensive back and now NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations, is speaking out on his experience playing with openly gay teammates.

From CBS Sports:

But Vincent said that he had openly gay teammates during his career and that their sexual orientation was never an issue.

“I'm not going to share their names, but in my 15 years, there were six individuals who were at least openly gay in the locker room,” Vincent said, via the Palm Beach Post. “No problem. From my days in Miami until I ended in Washington, they were just my teammates. Just like my family members. … We ate together, we flew together, they're roommates in hotel rooms. It was what it was.”

We love seeing more players--both past and present--being more vocal on this issue. And as it turns out, for most players playing alongside an openly gay player was a non-issue. Imagine that?

I am a Miami Dolphins fan and was sad when Troy left the Dolphins for the Philadelphia Eagles.  he was always classy as a player and it is nice to see that he has carried that through his post playing career.  Troy was always one of my favorite NFL players, no matter what team he was playing for, as long as they were not playing the Dolphins.
