Obituary For Single Veteran Prompts Hundreds Of Strangers To Attend His Funeral

Just in time for the holiday arrives a sad story with a happy ending.

After World War II vet Harold Jellicoe "Coe" Percival's obituary appeared in a local paper revealing that "he had no close family who can attend his funeral," the U.K.'s military and civilian community jumped into action. Along with calls for people to attend his funeral circling social networks, fellow veterans reached out via newspapers to ask for help sending Coe off.

"If you're in the area give him the send off he deserves," asked Sgt. Rick Clement, an Afghanistan War vet, in an editorial in the Blackpool Gazette. "This guy needs and deserves your help."

When it came time for Coe's funeral this morning, hundreds of strangers ignored the rain to pay final tribute to the hero with a send off that rivals the most decorated of soldiers.

Thank you to all who have served in the line of duty!

I'm crying as I am reading this. God bless all of those who serve or have served in our military! We all owe them respect and appreciation. Thank you to all the veterans!
