'Peter Pan' Is NBC's Next Live Televised Musical Event!

Looks like the next live broadcast musical event is underway! NBC has announced that a live televised performance of Peter Pan will be the next musical extravaganza following the ratings success of December's The Sound of Music Live

And in other great news, 2013 Instinct Leading Men Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will be returning to produce!

The Hollywood Reporter writes:

Using his platform Sunday at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said NBC would broadcast a live performance of Peter Pan set for Dec. 4. Casting for the project, which is being fast-tracked, is underway.

The executive noted that the central role of Peter -- traditionally played by a woman -- would likely go to a male actor.

Greenblatt said on Sunday:

“We’re very pleased to be underway on Peter Pan as our next live holiday musical for the whole family. We were all delighted to see how The Sound of Music Live! struck such a chord in December and brought nearly 19 million people to the live telecast plus another several million viewers over the weekend. In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we’ve landed on another great Broadway musical -- which ironically also starred Mary Martin -- that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up.”

Excited for a live Peter Pan in 2014?? Are there any male stars you can see successfully taking on the role??

We wouldn't mind seeing Broadway and TV vets Andrew Rannells or Jonathan Groff slip in to those tights!

I know one kid, no matter what you think of him and his fans, that is perfect.  He looks like he is 12, fourteen at the oldest, and has the pipes...Justin Bieber.

Peter Pan is a great story. I loved it as a kid.

Tom Daley would look great in tights but I don't know if he can sing and dance. To study for the role, all he'd have to do is observe his current rumored or real boyfriend (whichever you believe) who dates a teenager, hangs with this teen's BFF's, tries to dress far too young for someone pushing 40, and seems to be a real life Peter Pan.

One serious possibility is Lance Bass. He's cute and he is talented, and often times when performers who are still relatively young while also season do great things with these kinds of roles.

Chris Colfer, of course!

He has the best chance and fits the part most easily of anyone I can think of, well done!

Perfect role for NPH!
