Pope John Paul II, Who Described Same-Sex Marriage As 'Evil', Will Become A Saint
Hooray. The deceased Pope who famously said all gays are evil will be canonized as a saint next year.
The Vatican announced that Pope John Paul II will be declared a saint on April 27, 2014.
If you don't remember, Pope John Paul had no qualms about denouncing gay rights in his 2005 book, Memory and Identity, writing: “It is legitimate and necessary to ask oneself if this [same-sex marriage] is not perhaps part of a new ideology of evil, perhaps more insidious and hidden, which attempts to pit human rights against the family and against man.”
Ideology of evil? Insidious? Noted.
Let's not forget that the Pope also denounced the use of condoms in the fight to stop the spread of HIV. Clearly that was helpful.
How do you feel about the homophobic Pope being elevated to sainthood, Instincters?
