Porn Production Halted As Performer Tests Positive For HIV

A moratorium has once again been placed on porn production following news that a male performer has contracted HIV.

The group of adult film producers known as the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) called for the production halt on Friday, Dec. 6 following the HIV-positive test result from a Los Angeles HIV testing center.

Mike South reports:

In the past the stories have gotten out mostly when people who had been exposed started talking about it. This time The FSC has apparently gotten in front of it before the people who were exposed have been notified.

I have confirmed that it is a guy and he is from the straight side of the biz, he is not a high level performer.

I am hearing that he tested positive in the last few days but it is not clear if this was his first or second positive test.  Because the FSC has called for a moratorium I would be inclined to go with the idea that this is at least his second positive test and is unlikely to be a false positive.

This comes at a bad time for the industry this is the 4th self imposed moratorium in 15 months.

The performer's identity has been kept private.

Do you think this latest news will have any impact on safe-sex practices in pornography, Instincters?

I think it's about time the Porn Industry stopped making Bare Back Films and help with  the promotion of safer sex. Yes I agree that there are risks involved in the making of porn films, BUT to get or pay the performers to go in front the camera with out condoms is extremely risky and purely about profit.

I think it will be business as usual. Things like this are risks of the job. I also think self imposed moratoriums are a very responsible step in dealing with these issues.
